What's 'Hot' in Genealogy? "DNA"
The Slocum Family Project:DNA
The Slocombe/Slocum family project was started by Melville C. Brown and Judy L. Slocum. Our objective is to separate and research the first three Slocombe family members from England to our American Shores. (Anthony, Giles, Simon Slocombe) First objective: to research each man and his lineal family line. Second objective: to connect or find a cross over which would link these three men to the same family.
The old and very trusted way of documentation of ancient records proved to create even more dead ends and questions yet unanswered.
We took a big leap forward into modern science and tried DNA.

'FAMILY TREE DNA'
Family Tree DNA did an exceptional job in not only explaining its use but providing us with the answers we have been looking for.
The DNA Tests have given us not only the answer to the long well debated subject of relationship of the three men who carry the name Slocombe, but a new path to follow and the research tool to help us achieve our goals.

'PLEASE HELP US TO CONTINUE OUR 'DNA' STUDY'
Please help us to continue our DNA study by being a volunteer in this very interesting family project. We are seeking willing participants world wide. We would like to add other Slocombe (and spelling variants) family groupings to our study. For more information contact us
(e-mail) or visit
Family Tree DNA website.

GENEALOGY AND DNA
Y-Chromosome
The y-chromosome signatures do change very slowly over time however the pattern is stable over hundreds of years. Male relatives who have an uninterrupted male-to male link between them will share the same, or very similar, Y-chromosome signatures. The Y-Line is particularly useful when a connection between different branches of a family, perhaps with the same surname, is suspected but cannot be proven from written records. Y-Line, by comparing the y-chromosome signatures, provides the answer.
